中国湖南一座家禽孵化场16日被揭发残忍烫死上万只甫出生小鸭，一系列骇人照片与影片在网路上疯传。

据了解，每天有上万只新生小公鸭因为无生育功能，被视为无利用价值而惨遭活活烫死，经处理后销往外地的至街贩作为烤肉，或卖给养蛇户用以喂蛇。

Staff put the ducklings in hot water. To make sure the birds are submerged, they used a wooden rod to push them down

After being killed in hot water, workers would put the dead ducklings in a spinning machine to have their feather removed

动保人士形容此举「野蛮至极」、「可怕」，但绝不是中国的唯一案例。

偷拍下此案的中国记者李根也表示，这在中国各地是很常有的事。「这些小鸭通常出生不到4天，因为大家认为他们无用，养育上也得花不少成本。」、「所以小鸭们形同排队等死。」

The hatchery used to bury the surplus male ducklings alive, but they now scald them to death because it's more 'economic'

李根表示，孵化场员工透露，一般孵化要花上20天，接着会把母鸭、公鸭挑成两堆，他们会贩售母鸭，并以最经济省钱的方式杀死公鸭，因为没有人想要买公鸭。

动保人士向大众请愿，希望唤起更多人关注，「我们不能活在这个世界上，却假装什么都没看见。」记者说：「这些小鸭们的死法真的很痛苦，若孵化场要处理这些小鸭们，至少应该找个更人道的方式，这实在太残忍了。」

Li Gen, who took these pictures, said that such practice is considered 'normal' and 'regular' in his home country

据统计，一年全国有大约25亿只小鸡因为没有”生存”价值而一出生就会被这样残杀。

Li Gen said: 'It must be so painful for the ducklings to be scalded to death. If the hatchery must get rid of these male birds, I hope they could find a humane way. This is too cruel'
